What is heavy vinyl?

Heavy vinyl is heavier and thicker than regular vinyl. With heavy vinyl, not only is the tactile satisfaction greater, but so is its durability and resistance to the inevitable degradation that occurs over time. Some also argue that the sound quality of heavy vinyl may be superior due to its more stable platform for the stylus and cantilever suspension.

These are the following weight per vinyl size:

  • 12" regular: 140g
  • 12" heavy: 180g
  • 10": 110g
  • 7": 49g

For technical reasons, 10" and 7" records are available in regular weight only.
