What is special color vinyl?

Our standard range of special color vinyl includes the following effects:

  • 1 or 2-color Splatter (standard splatter)
  • Half/Half
  • A Side/B Side
  • Color in Color
  • 3-color Segment
  • 3-color Striped

Colored Record with Splatters (standard or heavy vinyl)

The base color for colored records with splatter/s can be either solid or transparent. If you want a stronger contrast between the base and splatter color, we recommend choosing the base color from our transparent color range and the splatter color from our solid color range. Transparent splatter colors are also nice, but not with a solid base color (they will usually disappear when pressed).

There is an endless amount of base color and splatter color combinations. So go wild and choose something that suits best your record or cover artwork! You can choose up to 2 colors of splatter when ordering splatter vinyl.

You cannot select black as a base color since most of the spatter effect is absorbed by this color.

The splatter effect is entirely random, and every record will look different.

We do not manufacture HEAVY 7” splatter vinyl.

Half & Half Special Vinyl

These can be made from a combination of both transparent and solid colors.

Color in Color Special Vinyl

Color in color vinyl is when a color is pressed “inside” of another color. However, the end effect depends on the colors you choose, and we cannot guarantee that the smaller central color will always be visible on both sides of the record. We recommend choosing high contrasting colors for the best possible effect.

A-side / B-side Special Vinyl

This type of special colored record is generally made from solid colors. The effect is totally random on both sides of the record. We recommend choosing high contrasting colors for maximum effect.

You cannot select the color black for the A Side/B Side effect vinyl since most of the effect is absorbed by this color.

3-color Striped Special Vinyl

This type of record can be made with a combination of both solid and transparent colors.

3-color Segment Special Vinyl

This type of record can be made with a combination of both solid and transparent colors. Each colored segment is approximately 120°. However, be careful with the colors you choose since some transparent and solid colors can react differently when mixed.

The actual pressing color may differ from the image featured in Qrates Studio.
